Kama‘aina Day: Free admission at Honolulu Museum of Art for Hawai‘i residents
July 31, 2013 @ 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
On July 31, 1843, British Admiral Richard Thomas ended his compatriot Lord George Paulet’s six-month occupation of the nation of Hawai‘i and restored power to King Kamehameha III. Thomas made the declaration where Thomas Square now sits. To commemorate the event, and the man behind it, for the second year the museum celebrates July 31, Restoration Day, or La Ho‘iho‘i Ea, with free admission for kama‘aina (with ID) to the Honolulu Museum of Art and Spalding House.
